DEKKER APPOINTED CEO OF ENTERPRISE SASKATCHEWAN

Released on July 16, 2010

Enterprise Saskatchewan Minister Jeremy Harrison today announced the appointment of Chris Dekker to the position of CEO of Enterprise Saskatchewan.

"I am very pleased to have a person with Mr. Dekker's leadership abilities take on this key role in the ongoing development of our economy," Harrison said. "With a strong and energetic management team, I am confident we will fulfill the mandate to push the competitive envelope and create the most robust economic climate in the country."

Dekker has served as Interim CEO since April 2010. He was appointed Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications in March 2009. Previously, he worked with the City of Saskatoon as Manager of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs and Special Projects.

Deputy Chair of the ES Board of Directors Gavin Semple noted that Dekker was chosen after a nation-wide search for candidates.

"The number and quality of applicants from across the country is indicative of the province's strong position on the national stage," Semple said. "We look forward to working with Mr. Dekker to overcome barriers to economic growth and to find or create new opportunities."

Enterprise Saskatchewan was officially established in July of 2008. In addition to the ongoing functions of a traditional economic development agency, Enterprise Saskatchewan's additional role is to identify, develop and monitor competitive advantages and disadvantages in each economic sector and prescribe action through an independent Board of Directors with input from Sector Teams and Issues Councils.
