A Regina company, 101050094 Saskatchewan Ltd. operating as CGP Services, has pleaded guilty to failing to pay final wages in full under Section 48 (2) of Saskatchewan's Labour Standards Act. In addition the company director, Gregory Schmidt pleaded guilty to failing to provide records under Section 66 (c) of Saskatchewan's Labour Standards Act.
Each has been fined a total of $480. This includes a fine of $400 and an $80 surcharge for a total of $960.
The Labour Standards Branch of the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety supports fair and equitable workplace practices through public awareness and enforcement of The Labour Standards Act and regulations as well as other labour legislation. Whenever necessary, violations will be prosecuted.
In the past three months, four employers have been convicted for violating different provisions of the legislation. Six additional prosecutions against employers are currently pending.
