SASKATCHEWAN CELEBRATES TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK

Released on February 8, 2010

In recognition of Saskatchewan teachers and support staff, Education Minister Ken Krawetz has proclaimed the week of February 7-13, 2010 as Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week in the province.

"Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our teachers and support staff across the province," Krawetz said. "They play a big role in helping students learn, grow and develop the skills they need to become active members of society."

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is recognized nationally by the Canadian Home and School Federation as a way to increase awareness of the important role teachers and staff play in educating Canada's youth. This year, the Saskatchewan Association of School Councils (SASC) will celebrate their theme, Intertwining Energies, in communities throughout the province with a variety of activities.

This marks the twenty-third consecutive year that the province has celebrated Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week and the important contributions of Saskatchewan teachers and support staff.
