Provincial Secretary Donna Harpauer received a report today from the Advisory Committee on Francophone Affairs. The report identifies key recommendations in the areas of immigration and inter-provincial migration.
"I would like to thank the committee for their continued hard work and commitment to Saskatchewan's francophonie," Harpauer said. "As they indicate in their report, the government and the Fransaskois community share an interest in welcoming French-speaking immigrants and the skills they bring to our province."
The seven recommendations made within the report are aimed at strengthening the province's efforts to attract newcomers to Saskatchewan by working closely with the provinces francophone community, forming new strategic relationships and building upon existing services.
The committee was created in 2009 to advise the Provincial Secretary through the review and analysis of French-language programs and policies and to guide the implementation of Saskatchewan's French-language Services Policy. Providing services in French allows the government to meet the needs of the people of Saskatchewan while attracting French newcomers to our province.
