ANTLERLESS ELK HUNTING OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CYPRESS HILLS AREA

Released on August 18, 2010

119 licences are available for Saskatchewan residents who would like to hunt antlerless elk in the Cypress Hills area. These licences for Wildlife Management Zone 6 remained unsold following this year's Big Game Draw.

The licences are available for $53.97 each by calling 1-306-798-4000 beginning at 8:00 a.m. on August 30, 2010. Callers will have to supply their Health Services Card number or Habitat Certificate number, as well as a full mailing address and birth date for each licence purchased. There is a limit of four licences per telephone call. In-person orders will not be accepted. Licence purchase will be by credit card only.

Hunters who already hold a special elk licence obtained through the Big Game Draw or who have purchased a regular elk licence are not eligible for these licences.

The hunting season for antlerless elk is only for Wildlife Management Zone 6 and that portion of Zone 7 located east of Highway 271 and Grid Road 615. The season is open from October 1 to December 19, 2010 and from January 5 to February 28, 2011.

Please note that the Bear-Piapot and Birch-Maple Grazing Co-op pastures will remain closed until November 1, 2010. Cypress Hills Provincial Park (Centre Block) is closed to all hunting and all firearms must be encased while traveling within the park boundaries.
