2010 BIG GAME DRAW OPENS MAY 1

Released on April 26, 2010

If you are hoping to hunt certain big game species this fall, you should plan on getting your Big Game Draw applications in before the May 31, 2010 deadline.

This year, all applications for the Big Game Draw must be submitted online. Paper applications will not be available. All applications must be made through the Big Game Draw Online Application System beginning May 1 at https://secure.gov.sk.ca/biggame. If you require assistance in completing your online application, please call 306-798-4000.

Anyone wanting to hunt mule deer in 2010 must apply for a licence through the Big Game Draw process. Hunters should be aware that there will be no draw for either-sex mule deer licences in zones nine and 45. Those who wish to hunt either-sex mule deer in zones nine and 45 must have an antlerless mule deer licence for one of these zones. To be eligible to purchase an either-sex mule deer licence, a hunter must submit two antlerless mule deer heads for chronic wasting disease testing from zones nine or 45; this is known as the Earn-a-Buck program.

Please check the 2010 Hunters' and Trappers' Guide or visit our website at www.environment.gov.sk.ca/hunting for more details on the Big Game Draw for 2010. The guide will be available online by mid-May.
