An inquest into the death of Kenneth Chase Wilfred Standingready-McKay will be held November 2 through 6, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the Carlyle Town Hall in Carlyle, Saskatchewan.
Standingready-McKay, aged 21 years, died June 14, 2008, at a home on the White Bear First Nation.
Section 19 of The Coroners Act, 1999, states that the Chief Coroner may direct that an inquest be held into the death of any person. In addition to establishing who died, when and where the individual died, the medical cause of death and the manner of death, the coroner's jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.
The purpose of the inquest is to provide a public hearing to examine in detail the events surrounding the death of Standingready-McKay.
Coroner Keith Kilback of Regina will preside at the inquest.
