DIPLOMATS TO ATTEND OPENING SESSION, EXPLORE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES

Released on October 21, 2009

Diplomats from eight countries are in Saskatchewan this week at the invitation of Premier Brad Wall to attend the Speech from the Throne and to learn more about trade and investment opportunities.

The officials have been invited to attend the opening of the Fall Session of the Legislature and take part in a program designed to give them an overview of Saskatchewan's strengths in agriculture, mining and energy.

"We are honoured to host these representatives from our international trading partners who are attending the Speech from the Throne which will highlight our government's priorities and vision for the months ahead," Wall said. "We continue to seek new opportunities in international markets and to promote Saskatchewan as a valuable trading partner and a great place to invest."

While in Saskatchewan, the dignitaries will attend a luncheon with local industry leaders hosted by Premier Wall. After attending the Speech from the Throne, the dignitaries will take part in a discussion about the speech with a panel of economists. They will also have the opportunity to tour Cameco's McArthur River mine operation.
