FIVE SASKATCHEWAN COMPANIES AMONG CANADA’S TOP 100 EMPLOYERS

Released on October 9, 2009

Premier Brad Wall today congratulated five Saskatchewan companies - SaskTel, SaskEnergy, Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI), Information Services Corporation (ISC), and Cameco - that have been included on Mediacorp Canada's latest list of Canada's Top 100 Employers. Mediacorp made the announcement on Thursday, October 8.

"These five companies have created strong corporate cultures that attract and retain employees while eliciting respect from across the country," Wall said. "Congratulations to the employees and management of Crown Corporations SaskTel, SaskEnergy, SGI and ISC for being recognized among Canada's Top 100 Employers. I also want to congratulate Cameco Corporation, another Saskatchewan-based company included on this year's list."

Mediacorp Canada Inc. publishes job-hunting periodicals and a web site, Eluta.ca. The Top 100 Employers program recognizes outstanding Canadian employers that lead the way in attracting and retaining quality employees. Companies who make the list will be profiled at Eluta.ca, in Maclean's Magazine and in the Globe and Mail.

SaskTel is one of a handful of companies that have been on the list since its inception, and is the only Saskatchewan-based company to make the list 10 times.

Mediacorp grades the organizations in eight key areas: Physical Workplace; Work Atmosphere and Social; Health, Financial and Family Benefits; Vacation and Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training and Skills Development; and Community Involvement. These criteria have remained consistent throughout all ten years of the Canada's Top 100 Employers project.
