JOIN SASKATCHEWAN’S TEAM FOR THE 2010 WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES

Released on November 27, 2009

Saskatchewan's Olympic Team is inviting the public to be part of history and help represent Saskatchewan on a world-stage. The Government of Saskatchewan announced today that the Saskatchewan Pavilion is looking for volunteers. Those interested in volunteering should visit the newly created web site at www.saskpavilion.com/ to learn more and sign up to help with the Saskatchewan Pavilion during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

"The call is for current Saskatchewan residents who will be visiting Vancouver between February 12 and 28, 2010, and for 'ex-pats' who live in the greater Vancouver area," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Dustin Duncan said. "Demonstrate your Saskatchewan pride by becoming a volunteer at the Saskatchewan Pavilion. Go to the Saskatchewan Pavilion web site to learn more and sign up."

The Saskatchewan Pavilion will showcase the province's cultural identity, artistic talent, hospitality and tourism, as well as the economic opportunities that abound in the Land of the Living Skies. With daily exposure to thousands of visitors, there will be the opportunity to literally speak to people from around the globe.

"It is our time to show Canada and the rest of the world exactly what Saskatchewan has to offer to those who might want to live, work and vacation in our great province," Duncan said.

Encompassing more than 20,000 square feet at Concord Place on the north shore of False Creek, in downtown Vancouver, the Saskatchewan Pavilion will feature an eye-catching, 6-story video dome that will be projecting graphics of Saskatchewan to those inside and the tens of thousands who will be passing by. Alongside the dome will be a 7,500 square foot entertainment centre where on-going activities and performances by Saskatchewan talent are planned. Those with Saskatchewan pride and an interest in experiencing the spirit of our great province will gather daily during the Games.
