MINISTER BOYD WELCOMES C&C WOOD PRODUCTS TO SASKATCHEWAN

Released on November 25, 2009

Saskatchewan's forest industry has a new addition with the official arrival of C&C Wood Products in the province.

The company, headquartered in Quesnel, British Columbia, has just purchased the Carrot River Sawmill and Hudson Bay Plywood Mill from Weyerhaeuser. This finalizes an asset purchase agreement signed between the two companies in the spring.

"We're very pleased that C&C Wood Products has concluded this sale and we look forward to this Canadian company operating in the forest sector of Saskatchewan," Energy and Resources Minister Bill Boyd said. "The company has an excellent reputation for its value-added wood products and it will bring its knowledge and expertise to the facilities in Carrot River and Hudson Bay."

The Pasquia-Porcupine Forest Management Agreement (FMA) is now a co-operative arrangement between C&C Wood Products and Weyerhaeuser. The FMA had previously been managed solely by Weyerhaeuser. Under the new assignment, Weyerhaeuser will continue to use hardwood for its oriented strand board mill at Hudson Bay while C&C will have the softwood allocation for the plywood mill and sawmill.

C&C Wood Products Ltd. Is a 32-year-old company that specializes in the manufacture of wood panelling, specialty board products and wood pellets for domestic and offshore markets. It has customers throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
