REUSABLE SHOPPING BAGS AT SLGA LIQUOR STORES

Released on November 13, 2009

BYOB' has taken on a new meaning at SLGA liquor stores

Beginning Nov. 14, SLGA liquor stores will be selling a reusable shopping bag and encouraging customers to ‘Bring Your Own Bag' to SLGA liquor stores to carry their purchases. The bags hold up to six bottles and will sell for 97 cents, taxes included, at all of the province's 79 liquor stores.

"These new reusable shopping bags provide an alternative packaging option for our customers," Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority Christine Tell said. "It's another way Saskatchewan residents can ‘Go Green'."

SLGA currently offers both paper and plastic bags to customers who shop at SLGA stores. With the introduction of the reusable bag, plastic bags will be phased out once current stocks are depleted. Paper bags will continue to be available.

"Our Government remains committed to finding ways our province can become more environmentally friendly and this is another small way we can make a difference," Tell said.

For today only (Nov. 13), SLGA will offer a free reusable bag to customers making a purchase at SLGA stores.
