If you know someone who has made significant contributions to the social, cultural or economic well being of the province and its residents, nominate him or her for the Saskatchewan Order of Merit.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Order which is the province's highest honour and is recognized by the Government of Canada with a place in the national precedence of orders, decorations and medals.
"Those who have been invested into the Saskatchewan Order of Merit over the past 25 years are a spectacularly impressive group, who represent the extraordinary depth of expertise and excellence in our province," Lieutenant Governor Gordon L. Barnhart said. "I enthusiastically encourage the people of Saskatchewan to consider nominating a deserving individual to receive this prestigious honour."
The Saskatchewan Order of Merit recognizes individuals for excellence, achievement and contributions in areas like the arts, agriculture, business and industry, community leadership, occupations or professions, public service, research, sport and recreation and community service.
Any Saskatchewan resident, or former resident, is eligible for nomination with the exception of current elected members of the Legislature or Parliament and judges currently holding office. Nominations are accepted for individuals only, not for couples, groups or organizations. Posthumous nominations are accepted within one year of the date of the person's death.
