Saskatoon's new specialty wine store franchise is now one step closer to reality.
Saskatoon businessman Cameron Rizos will operate the Saskatoon franchise in the city's Riverside Market District.
"Mr. Rizos' previous business experience, his extensive knowledge of specialty beverage alcohol products and the location of this new franchise will serve Saskatoon customers well," Minister responsible for Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) Dan D'Autremont said. "This new store will be welcomed by consumers looking for specialty products not available in SLGA stores."
Rizos was selected through an open Request for Proposals (RFP) process conducted by Meyers Norris Penny on behalf of SLGA. Rizos, who currently operates a business specializing in wine education and related products, is pleased SLGA is introducing specialty wine store franchises.
"Today's wine consumers are becoming more sophisticated and want new and different products," Rizos said. "I know Saskatoon and area wine lovers will be looking forward to the unique products that this new franchise will bring to the Saskatoon marketplace."
Saskatchewan's liquor retail system is a mix of public and private operators. There are 79 public liquor stores, 185 private businesses that operate as liquor franchises on behalf of SLGA, approximately 450 private off-sale outlets and more than 1,000 liquor permitted establishments located throughout the province.
