GOVERNMENT INJECTING MONEY INTO SASKATOON AREA SPEEDWAY

Released on March 31, 2009

Ladies and gentlemen...start your engines!

The Government of Saskatchewan is injecting $75,000 into Bridge City Speedway Inc. for upgrades to the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, located just north of Saskatoon, to help pave the way for Saskatchewan's first ever NASCAR event.

"The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series race is a dream come true for stock car racing fans across Canada," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell said. "I know the communities of Saskatoon and Martensville will be great hosts and make this event a historic and memorable success."

"As president of Auto Clearing Motor Speedway and the Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association, I am excited about the opportunity our city and province will have in hosting this prestigious NASCAR event," Auto Clearing Motor Speedway president Trent Seidel said. "To have the support of the Minister of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport can only enhance the success of this event. In hosting such an event we look forward to the national attention this province will receive as racing fans and visitors make their way to our wonderful province."

The Government of Saskatchewan and Saskatoon's Auto Clearing Motor Speedway recently announced that NASCAR was coming to Saskatchewan. Drivers Scott Steckly, Don Thomson, Jr., DJ Kennington, Andrew Ranger and Kerry Micks will be racing for the championship driver title in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series on July 29, 2009.

The Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association has been part of the racing community for more than 55 years, and have rebuilt the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway into a state of the art racing and entertainment facility.
