Saskatchewan student, Erik Vantomme, has been awarded a full scholarship to participate in the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Program at Lester B. Pearson United World College in British Columbia.
Vantomme, from Campbell Collegiate in Regina, received the prestigious annual provincial scholarship and will begin the two-year program this fall. The scholarship, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, is worth more than $60,000.
"This exceptional program gives students an opportunity to excel academically and explore a world of culture," Deputy Premier and Education Minister Ken Krawetz said. "The scholarship allows our students to follow their dreams, chart their career course and return to Saskatchewan with experience that benefits their future and the province."
Vantomme will join last year's recipient, Julia Clark from Walter Murray Collegiate Institute in Saskatoon, at the college this fall.
Pearson College is one of ten United World Colleges established on five continents throughout the world. Located near Victoria, British Columbia, the college creates a dynamic international community where 200 young people from 88 countries live, study and serve the community together. All students attend on full scholarship.
