MOST POPULAR BABY NAMES IN SASKATCHEWAN IN 2008

Saskatchewan's most popular names for babies born in 2008 were Ethan for boys and Ava for girls.

These statistics were compiled by Information Services Corporation (ISC). The provincial Crown corporation took over administration of the Vital Statistics Registry from the Ministry of Health in 2008.

Ethan remained the most popular baby boy name for the seventh straight year, followed by the names Noah and Joshua. Ava, which was the most popular baby girl name for the third consecutive year, was followed by the names Emma and Hannah, also second and third in 2007.

There were 12,803 live births registered in Saskatchewan in 2008, a decrease from the 13,352 in 2007. This number excludes Saskatchewan mothers who gave birth outside of the province.

The list below shows the top 20 male and female baby names in their order of popularity in Saskatchewan for 2008.
