GOVERNMENT RECOGNIZES THE CENTENNIAL YEAR OF TWO MILITARY ORGANIZATIONS

Released on December 2, 2009

Today Premier Brad Wall signed two separate proclamations recognizing 2009 in Saskatchewan as the 100th Anniversary Year of both the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC) and the Last Post Fund.

"These Centennials are a great opportunity for Saskatchewan to recognize the longstanding work of these two important organizations," Wall said. "The province is incredibly supportive of the Canadian Armed Forces and thankful to the men and women who dedicate their lives to us each day."

"I am so proud of the work these organizations do in making a difference in people's lives," Military Liaison D.F. (Yogi) Huyghebaert said. "I am pleased to be able to recognize them in this way on their 100th anniversaries."

The Last Post Fund is a national organization devoted to veterans who ensure that no Canadian or Allied veteran is deprived of a dignified funeral, burial and headstone for lack of financial resources.

The Cadet Instructors Cadre is one of the oldest corps in the Canadian Forces. From 1909, the CIC has been responsible for the administration, training and supervision of Sea, Army and Air Cadets.
