NEW STORE IMPROVES SERVICE FOR MELFORT CUSTOMERS

Released on August 18, 2009

A new liquor store with more selection, increased hours and improved access was officially opened in Melfort today.

Minister Responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) Christine Tell, Finance Minister and Melfort MLA Rod Gantefoer and representatives from the town of Melfort were on hand for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.

"Our commitment is to customer service and this new store will improve service and product selection," said Tell. "The modern building provides a more spacious shopping environment with more than double the amount of retail space then our previous Melfort location."

The new store, located on Saskatchewan Avenue E, has approximately 5,300 square feet of retail space and carries more than 1,200 products. The previous location on Crawford Street had 2,200 square feet of retail space and 800 products.

SLGA partnered with a local businessman to develop the new liquor store.

"The new liquor store is an example of the confidence and investment that's contributing to Melfort's revitalized business community," Gantefoer said. "The store will be great for local customers and also offers a good selection to the growing number of tourists travelling through Melfort to some of the finest resort areas in the province."

The store is open Monday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
