Advanced Education, Employment and Labour Minister Rob Norris today announced that the Public Policy Forum, one of Canada's pre-eminent public policy organizations will establish a Western Canadian office in Regina.
The Ministry of Advanced Education, Employment and Labour will provide a grant of $200,000 per year for three years to the Public Policy Forum to support the establishment of the organization's new Western Canadian presence in Regina. The Public Policy Forum will match this funding.
The Public Policy Forum is an independent, not-for-profit organization that aims to improve the quality of government in Canada through enhanced dialogue among the public, private and voluntary sectors. Over the past twenty-two years, the Public Policy Forum has grown to 180 members from business, federal and provincial governments, academia, organized labour and the voluntary and not-for-profit sectors.
Norris said the one-time grant to the Public Policy Forum is an important public policy building investment. "Saskatchewan is proud of its leadership role in public policy, and I'm pleased that our government is partnering with Canada's Public Policy Forum," Norris said.
President and CEO of the Public Policy Forum David Mitchell thanked the Government of Saskatchewan for its contribution to the Public Policy Forum's new Western presence. "The Government of Saskatchewan's commitment will help to ensure that Western Canadian voices are part of the national dialogue on the important governance and policy issues of the day," Mitchell said. "The province's support is commendable and appreciated."
