FIRST NATIONS AND MÉTIS RELATIONS DEPUTY MINISTER APPOINTS NEW ASSISTANT DEPUTY MINISTER – NORTHERN

Released on April 20, 2009

First Nations and Métis Relations Deputy Minister Ron Crowe is pleased to announce the appointment of Toby Greschner as Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for Northern Affairs effective May 1, 2009.

Greschner was chosen for the position from a pool of talented candidates from Saskatchewan and other parts of Canada.

"The Ministry of First Nations and Métis Relations and the Government of Saskatchewan will benefit from the fact that Mr. Greschner lives in La Ronge," Crowe said. "The ministry is listening to northerners who said they want new leadership positioned in the North.

"The decades of public service Mr. Greschner has provided to northerners will enhance our government's valuable connection to thriving northern communities."

Greschner has in-depth knowledge of northern Saskatchewan through his most recent work in the Ministry of Education as a regional director based in La Ronge, and as a teacher with the Northern Lights School Division at the Dene High School in La Loche.

Crowe, along with First Nations and Métis Relations Minister June Draude, will meet with Greschner on April 21 while in La Ronge to launch the Northern Enterprise Regions initiative.

"It is my sincere pleasure to welcome Mr. Greschner to our team," Crowe said. "We are honoured to have him join us."
