From March 2008 to March 2009, more than one million visits were made to The Career Centre, the online information centre for careers in the Saskatchewan public service. This marks the largest number of hits in the site's history and is a 41 per cent increase over the previous year.
"The Career Centre continues to be a popular website, and public service jobs continue to be popular options for job seekers," Minister responsible for the Public Service Commission Wayne Elhard said.
Currently there are over 90 postings open to the public on the site, as well as opportunities for students. The site also features information about working in the public service, personal stories from current employees, and tips and tools to help job seekers with their applications.
The Career Centre provides information about all careers available in Government of Saskatchewan ministries including permanent full-time and part-time positions, student jobs, term opportunities and labour service jobs.
"We have a wide variety of career options available in many different service areas," Elhard said. "From accountants and agrologists all the way through to social workers, tradespeople and technologists."
Visitors to The Career Centre can also sign up to receive the Careers eBulletin, a weekly e-mail list of positions available in the public service.
"The PSC is committed to service excellence, and The Career Centre is a great example of this," Elhard said.
