Released on September 26, 2008

Highways and Infrastructure Minister Wayne Elhard reminds motorists to be aware of new and ongoing projects when travelling this weekend and to drive safely.

"Take time to plan the safest and most efficient route before you travel," Elhard said. "Slow to 60 km/h when passing highway workers and equipment, be alert and be prepared to stop as directed."

  • A temporary detour is in place about 1 kilometre (km) west of Spiritwood while bridge work is underway.

Highway 6

  • Construction is expected to begin on a detour, which will later accommodate traffic when bridge construction starts on Highway 6 about 6 km north of its junction with Highway 13.

Highway 18

  • Construction is expected to begin on a detour, which will later accommodate traffic when bridge construction starts on Highway 18 over McDonald Creek, just west of McCord.
  • Traffic is reduced to one lane during bridge repairs on Highway 18 over McDonald Creek, just east of Mankota.
