SASKATCHEWAN PREMIER BRAD WALL TO ADDRESS GLOBAL BUSINESS FORUM

Released on September 18, 2008

Wall the First Saskatchewan Premier to Speak to this Prestigious Business Event

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall will address the 2008 Global Business Forum in Banff, Alberta on Friday.

The forum, founded in 2000, is an independent, not-for-profit corporation that brings together international business executives, academics and government leaders to discuss critical issues.

Wall has attended the forum in previous years, but this will be his first time speaking at the event.

In fact, it's the first time ever the Premier of Saskatchewan has addressed the Global Business Forum.

"This is a very good opportunity to highlight Saskatchewan's economic leadership - both in a New West as well as nationally and internationally," Wall said.

"I'll be telling forum participants about the steps we have taken in our first year in government to solidify and build on Saskatchewan's prosperity, and our longer-term desire to combine our province's abundant resource sector with world leadership in innovation and technology."

In previous years, the forum has discussed issues like global competitiveness, prompting growth and confidence and the integration of the North American marketplace.

This year's theme is Welcome to the New Economy-Where the Rubber Hits the Road.

Wall will also be repeating the message he delivered at the Western Governors' Meeting in Wyoming this summer; that all western North American jurisdictions rich in the feedstocks of all forms of energy need to focus on innovation, to co-operate on finding the next breakthroughs that will provide environmentally sustainable energy sources to meet the needs of a thriving world economy.
