PREMIER WALL EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY OF RON LANCASTER

Released on September 18, 2008

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall today expressed sincere condolences on behalf of the people of our province to the family of the late Ron Lancaster.

"Tami and I would like Ron's wife Bev, and his three children and grandchildren to know that our thoughts and our prayers are with them on this sad day," Wall said.

"Ron will be forever linked to the Saskatchewan Roughriders and forever linked to football excellence.

"During his 16 seasons, he took our team to the playoffs 14 times and the Western Conference final 12 times. He went to the Grey Cup five times, winning in 1966."

"Ron Lancaster's heart, character, competitiveness and his unselfish contributions back to our province are the reasons why he remains so loved by not only Rider fans but by an entire province. He will always be an icon of Saskatchewan," Wall said.
