Released on October 10, 2008

Effective October 12, 2008, Information Services Corporation (ISC) will take over the management and operation of the Vital Statistics Registry from the Ministry of Health.

"ISC has worked very closely with the Ministry of Health since the transfer was first announced in March to ensure customers will receive uninterrupted, exceptional customer service."

The Vital Statistics Registry is a province-wide system for registering births, deaths, marriages, stillbirths and changes of name. Vital Statistics employees also issue certificates as legal proof of these vital events and provide statistical information for agencies and the public.

"The transfer will leverage ISC's significant registry and customer service expertise. ISC plans to make investments to enhance Vital Statistics' services, including an upgrade to their database and increased security of the registry. We are confident that our improvements will result in positive customer experiences."
