Lieutenant Governor Dr. Gordon Barnhart presented the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal in Regina today. The medal recognizes individuals who have 25 years or more of exemplary service protecting the people of Saskatchewan or their property. This can be in either a volunteer or a full-time capacity.
"We are fortunate to live in a province where the men and women, tasked with keeping us safe, have set such high standards and strive for excellence in their duties," Provincial Secretary Wayne Elhard said. "Their actions exemplify the true character and unwavering spirit of Saskatchewan."
Recipients receiving the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal today are:
• Mr. Robert J. Burnett, Glen Ewen Fire Department;
• Captain Allan Burwell, Regina Fire Department;
• Constable Paul Clouatre, Prince Albert Police Service;
• Sergeant Gary Eagles, Estevan Police Service;
• Sergeant (Retired) Dwayne S. Gulka, Regina Police Service;
• Mr. Stephen Hug, Senior Conservation Officer, Ministry of Environment;
• Inspector Marlo D. Pritchard, Regina Police Service;
• Superintendent Murray J. Roe, Regina Police Service;
• Sergeant Ronald R. Roteliuk, Regina Police Service;
• Mr. Greg Rychlo, Senior Conservation Officer, Ministry of Environment; and
• Sergeant Garth W. Shain, Regina Police Service
Established in 2003, the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal is administered by the Saskatchewan Protocol Office in close co-operation with the Saskatchewan Association of Chiefs of Police, Saskatchewan Firefighters Association and other agencies whose personnel are eligible for the honour.
