SASKATCHEWAN HONOURS 2008 OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC TEAM MEMBERS

Released on November 13, 2008

Saskatchewan's 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Summer Games national team members were honoured at the provincial Legislature today.

"These women and men earned their place at the starting line in Beijing where they represented our country and our province," Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Christine Tell said. "They are an inspiration, not only to the province's next generation of athletes, but to everyone in Saskatchewan who has a dream."

The team members were each introduced to the Legislative Assembly. Later, in a ceremony in the Rotunda, the athletes were introduced and each given a gift from the province.

Canada's national team for the 2008 Olympic Summer Games and 2008 Paralympic Games had a total of 34 athletes, coaches and support staff from Saskatchewan.

More information on Saskatchewan's national team members can be found on the Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan web site at www.sasksport.sk.ca.
