As part of the Ready for Growth Initiative, the Government of Saskatchewan is investing more than $1.74 million to improve schools in Balgonie, White City and Regina.
"We recognize the learning success and achievement of our young people is vital to securing the future of our province," Education Minister Ken Krawetz said. "Providing our students with high quality schools is an important part of the government's growth agenda."
The capital projects include:
- $170,000 to the Prairie Valley School Division for relocatable classrooms at White City School;
- $500,000 to the Prairie Valley School Division for renovations and relocatable classrooms at Greenall High School;
- $310,000 to the Regina Public School Division for roofing upgrades at Dr. A. E. Perry Elementary School;
- $105,000 to the Regina Public School Division for roofing upgrades at W. H. Ford School;
- $240,000 to the Regina Public School Division for relocatable classrooms at Elsie Mironuck School;
- $120,000 to the Regina Separate School Division for relocatable classrooms at École St. Mary and St. Bernadette School; and
- $301,000 to the Regina Separate School Division for roofing upgrades at École St. Mary.
These projects are part of a $6.4 million investment by the Government of Saskatchewan to improve 36 schools across the province. Projects receiving funding include accessibility, roofing, building system and mechanical system upgrades, renovations and additions, including relocatable classrooms. The funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province.
The Government of Saskatchewan is investing a record $117.6 million in Kindergarten to Grade 12 school capital projects throughout the province this year. A $100 million has been committed to major capital projects, with the remaining $17.6 million targeted toward smaller capital projects identified by school divisions, including the 36 projects announced today.
