WINDSOR INVESTMENT RECRUITMENT TRIP OPENS WINDOW TO SASKATCHEWAN

Released on June 4, 2008

A Saskatchewan mission to Ontario's industrial heartland earlier this week is setting the foundation for mutually beneficial investment and partnership activities in the near future.

Enterprise and Innovation Minister Lyle Stewart and Deputy Minister Dale Botting led the three-day visit with various high-level key contacts from Windsor's business community and municipal government and were very warmly received.

"Our meetings with representatives from the City of Windsor and its local industry were as positive and as productive as we had hoped they would be," Enterprise and Innovation Minister Lyle Stewart said. "They were very receptive and interested in what we presented to them. Our discussions have paved the way for exploring real and significant opportunities - not only for Windsor, but for the people and businesses here in Saskatchewan."

Discussions included the feasibility of outsourcing to Windsor-area businesses in order to address existing labour needs in this province, possible commuting arrangements for skilled labour to work here, and preliminary details of potential new investment in Saskatchewan.
