SASKATOON-AREA FAMILIES RECEIVE ISC CENTURY FAMILY FARM AWARD

Released on June 4, 2008

Information Services Corporation (ISC) is honouring 325 families across Saskatchewan with 2008 ISC Century Family Farm Awards. Recipients from the Saskatoon-area received their award at a special presentation held on June 4 at the Saskatoon Western Development Museum, in recognition of farming their land for the past 100 years or more.

"Family farms have made Saskatchewan a great place to live, work and raise families," Crown Corporations Minister Ken Cheveldayoff said. "I congratulate all recipients on reaching the milestone of 100 years of continuously farming the same land, and celebrate their many accomplishments and contributions to building a strong Saskatchewan economy."

Four celebratory events are being held throughout June in Saskatoon, Yorkton, Swift Current and Regina to honour the 2008 ISC Century Family Farm Award recipients. In total, over 2,694 families have received the ISC Century Family Farm Award since 1981.

"The family farm represents the traditions and heritage that have shaped Saskatchewan," ISC acting president and CEO Jeff Stusek said. "It's a privilege for ISC to be honouring the achievements of these prairie farm families for following in their ancestors' footsteps."

All recipients receive a colour copy of their family's original land grant or title, as well as ISC Century Family Farm Award certificates and a choice of one of three commemorative items: an acrylic award, an indoor wall plaque or a gate sign. All three bear the ISC Century Family Farm Award logo, the family farm name and its year of establishment.

Information Services Corporation (ISC) is the provincial Crown corporation responsible for the administration of land titles, geographic information systems (GIS), surveys, mapping and interests in personal property.
