Education Minister Ken Krawetz today joined students and staff to celebrate the government's commitment of $2.5 million to the Naicam School Project.
"This investment exemplifies the benefits of the Ready for Growth initiative that is helping us grow our economy, improve our quality of life and take pride in where we live," Krawetz said. "The renovated Naicam School will strengthen the education opportunities for the town's young people and the community in which they live and grow."
"The renovations at Naicam School have presented an opportunity for the school division to partner with the community in the creation of this wonderful facility," North East School Division board chair Lorie Annand said. "Together with the Ministry of Education, we have developed a learning and recreational environment that will benefit students from Naicam and area for many years to come."
The renovated Naicam School will include a new gym, gym storage area and upgraded mechanical room. As well, new space for education programming such as industrial arts and home economics, performing, practical and visual arts has been added. A computer lab, conference room, gym office, change rooms and washrooms were also renovated.
The Government of Saskatchewan committed $117.6 million in this year's budget for kindergarten to Grade 12 school improvements as part of the Ready for Growth initiative. Additional funding of $60 million for capital funding was announced this spring that will support eight more school improvement projects next year.
