SCN announced today it will hold a public Open House in Saskatoon to celebrate the new season launches of two popular made-in-Saskatchewan televisions series: Edifice & Us and Middle of Somewhere. The public screening event will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30 at the Delta Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon.
"Every time SCN broadcasts a made-in-Saskatchewan TV program, they promote our province and people, encouraging other Canadians to travel here and learn more about us and our vibrant culture," Minister responsible for SCN Christine Tell said. "In addition to educating the world about Saskatchewan, SCN is a vital player in our province's thriving film and TV industry - an industry that provides many exciting career opportunities right here in our own province."
Attendees to the SCN Open House in Saskatoon will enjoy screenings of new episodes from two popular SCN series: Edifice & Us and Middle of Somewhere.
Edifice & Us is produced by Wolf Sun Productions and directed by Regina-based filmmaker, Steve Wolfson in partnership with Penny Ward and Richard Diener. The series explores Saskatchewan's cultural heritage through its architecture, going beyond the bricks and mortar of the buildings to delve into the human stories too. The new episodes will premiere on SCN at 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 29.
Middle of Somewhere is produced by Darryl Kesslar and John Mills of the Saskatoon-based production company, Plan9 Films. Hosted by the internationally acclaimed poet and author Seán Virgo, each episode showcases Saskatchewan's diverse people and unique landscape through his eyes. The show often features music from an eclectic mix of Saskatchewan musicians, including Eileen Laverty and Andrea Menard. The new episodes will premiere on SCN at 7 p.m., Wednesday, January 30.
As well as screening the new episodes, SCN Open House attendees will also enjoy hearing remarks from the producers. The Open House will be held in the William Pascoe Room at the Delta Bessborough Hotel, 601 Spadina Crescent East in Saskatoon on Wednesday, January 30. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and refreshments will be available.
