Released on February 14, 2008

Saskatchewan residents have until April 30, 2008, to nominate provincial employees for the 2008 Premier's Award for Excellence in the Public Service. The award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the government and citizens of the province.

"The work of provincial employees touches the lives of everyone in our province," Premier Brad Wall said. "Their hard work and commitment to exceptional levels of service, innovation and leadership are essential to securing the future of Saskatchewan."

"The Premier's Award is a way to recognize the important role of our public employees, especially those that consistently go the extra mile," Provincial Secretary Wayne Elhard said. "We have all benefited from their professionalism and dedication in serving our communities and their province as a whole."

Individual employees or teams from government ministries, some Treasury Board Crown Corporations, boards, commissions and agencies are eligible for nomination. Up to six awards will be announced during National Public Service Week in June, with the presentation event occurring in the fall.
