NEW LIQUOR STORE FOR MELFORT

Released on February 14, 2008

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority is relocating and expanding its Melfort liquor store.

Minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) Dan D'Autremont announced today that SLGA's store will move to a location along Saskatchewan Drive East. The new store, which will be leased by SLGA, will provide an expanded selection of products and a more convenient location for Melfort and area residents.

"Our government is pleased to partner with a local business entrepreneur who is redeveloping a property in Melfort's main retail area," D'Autremont said. "The new location will be a modern, attractive retail environment and improve overall service for our customers."

Finance Minister and Melfort MLA Rod Gantefoer said the new development will serve the community well.

"Like many communities in Saskatchewan, Melfort is enjoying the benefits of a strong provincial economy," Gantefoer said. "Our government is pleased to be a part of this growth."

The new store will replace the current location along Crawford Street East with an expanded modern retail space that will feature 7,500 square feet and provide improved access, greater product selection and more parking for customers. Redevelopment of the property is expected to begin shortly. The new store is expected to open in spring 2009.
