Visits to the Government of Saskatchewan's job-search website, SaskJobs.ca, took a dramatic increase in January. SaskJobs.ca lists both private and public sector job opportunities in communities throughout Saskatchewan.
The site experienced 350,686 visits in January, an increase of 54 per cent over December 2007 traffic, and well over the 12-month average of 274,186.
"Saskatchewan's growing economy is generating more job opportunities in every corner of the province," Advanced Education, Employment and Labour Minister Rob Norris said. "SaskJobs.ca is an excellent tool for bringing employers and job seekers together in today's competitive labour market."
People from outside the province are looking to Saskatchewan for job opportunities. More than 54,000 visits came from outside of Saskatchewan in January, with 44 per cent coming from Alberta and Ontario. Alberta's total of 12,221 visitors represented a 46 per cent increase over December, while Ontario's total of 11,682 represented an increase of 81 per cent.
"Saskatchewan's career opportunities coupled with our great way of life are attracting more and more people to our province," Norris said. "Together with Saskatchewan employers, our government will continue to work hard to ensure the opportunity for a high-quality career and a high quality of life in Saskatchewan."
SaskJobs.ca is Saskatchewan's largest job-search website, featuring more than 6,600 job postings in communities across the province.
