PROVINCE PROCLAIMS TEACHER AND STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK

Released on February 11, 2008

To recognize the significant contributions teachers and support staff make in providing Saskatchewan's youth with a solid foundation for success, Education Minister Ken Krawetz has proclaimed the week of February 10 to 16 as Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week in Saskatchewan.

"Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week provides us with the opportunity to thank teachers and support staff for helping students learn, grow and develop the skills they need to secure their futures in Saskatchewan, strengthening the future of our province," Krawetz said.

The Saskatchewan Association of School Councils (SASC) organizes Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week to increase awareness of the important role teachers and staff play in educating the province's youth. Communities throughout the province will celebrate the week with activities such as teas, contests, prize draws and presentations to staff.

This marks the twenty-first consecutive year that the province has celebrated Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week and the important contributions of Saskatchewan's teachers and support staff, including teaching assistants, bus drivers, custodians and office managers.
