SGI ENCOURAGES MOTORISTS TO USE ECLAIM

Released on December 22, 2008

In the event of a traffic collision this winter, Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) encourages motorists to file their auto claim online using SGI's eClaim registration service to help make the overall claim process easier.

Collisions increase during the winter months. Between the months of October 2007 to March 2008, there were 90,000 collisions in the province.

SGI's eClaim service is a fast, easy way for motorists to file their auto claim online and to book a damage appraisal. The service is available every day, including evenings and weekends. As of November 30, nearly 35,000 motorists in Saskatchewan have used the service since it was launched in 2004.

"SGI's eClaim service is designed to make filing an auto claim easier and more convenient for our customers," SGI acting president and CEO Earl Cameron said. "We understand how stressful an auto collision can be. If an electronic option for filing an auto claim can reduce this stress in any way, it's worth it."

Saskatchewan Government Insurance is the province's self-sustaining auto insurance fund. SGI operates 21 claims centres and five salvage centres across Saskatchewan and a head office in Regina. The organization employs 1,700 people and works with a network of almost 300 independent insurance brokers and 420 motor licence issuers across the province.

For more information about eClaim or to file a claim using the registration service, visit SGI online at www.sgi.sk.ca.
