GEORGE REED COMES BACK TO SASKATCHEWAN

Released on December 19, 2008

The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation is pleased to announce the return of legendary Saskatchewan Roughrider running back George Reed to our province. One of the greatest running backs in the history of the Canadian Football League, Reed is taking over a new role - Corporate Event Host for Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw.

"We're thrilled to have George joining our casino family," Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Acting president and CEO Twyla Meredith said. "It's always exciting when one of our own returns home, but to have someone of Mr. Reed's talent and reputation coming back is just wonderful.

"I look forward to introducing him to our guests, our staff and the entire community."

As a Corporate Event Host, Reed will welcome guests, corporate partners and staff of Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw to a variety of events at the Casinos and the community at large.

Reed and his wife Angie will be relocating from Calgary. His new duties will begin February 2, 2009.

"This is a great opportunity and we're thrilled to be coming back to Saskatchewan," Reed said. "We have so many fond memories of our time here, and we're both looking forward to renewing old acquaintances and meeting new friends."

For many years, Reed held the CFL record for career rushing yards. He is still the all-time CFL leader in 1,000-yard rushing seasons (11) and rushing touchdowns (134).

George Reed is a member of the Order of Canada, and was the inaugural winner of the CFL's Tom Pate Memorial Trophy for his outstanding abilities and dedication to community service. Reed has also been inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Roughrider Plaza of Honour.
