The Ministry of Agriculture announced some assistance for cattle producers in Southwest Saskatchewan today.
Agriculture Minister Bob Bjornerud said there are a number of grazing opportunities available in Northeast Saskatchewan through the Saskatchewan Pastures Program (SPP).
"We recognized that with current drought conditions in the Southwest, cattle producers are short of pasture," Bjornerud said. "We hope that by accommodating cattle where we can, it will help to ease some of the strain on those producers that are already battling such difficult conditions."
Pasture space is available at the following locations: Barrier Lake, Crooked River, Crystal Springs, Donlands, Good Spirit, Lady Lake, Marean Lake, Paddockwood, Pontrilas and Smeaton.
Producers needing information about delivery requirements and grazing fees can contact David Junk, Resource Technologist with Saskatchewan Agriculture at 306-878-8819 or 306-873-7125.
