REGIONAL RECYCLING PROGRAMS GET A BOOST

Released on April 3, 2008

Sixteen regional waste management system providers across the province will receive grants totalling $835,000. The grant money will be used to support their recycling programs.

"Recycling is a priority for the people of Saskatchewan," Environment Minister Nancy Heppner said. "By providing this support to regional recycling programs, we are showing our government's commitment to protecting the environment and helping Saskatchewan people Go Green."

Grant funds will be used by the regional waste management system providers to assist with recycling activities and operating debt, the purchase of capital assets for recycling programs and assistance for solid waste business planning to develop effective and efficient recycling and waste disposal systems.
