Saskatchewan is making further changes to the small claims court system to improve the public's access to justice in pursuing smaller civil claims.
"This government is committed to the ongoing operation of a small claims court that is accessible for the average person," Justice Minister Frank Quennell said.
The monetary limit for cases that may be heard by small claims court will increase from $15,000 to $20,000 on November 1, 2007. This is the third increase in the monetary limit since January 2006 when it was decided that the government would review the limit and raise it in stages to $25,000. Previously, the limit for such claims was $5,000.
