UPGRADING SCHOOLS IN REGINA

The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $522,000 to improve five schools in Regina.

"We are committed to working with school divisions to provide healthy, comfortable and well equipped learning environments for Saskatchewan students," Advance Education and Employment Minister and Regina Elphinstone-Centre MLA Warren McCall said on behalf of Learning Minister Deb Higgins. "When we invest in schools, we are investing in students and in the future of Saskatchewan."

The capital improvement projects include:

  • $45,000 to the Regina Public School Division for roofing upgrades at McClurg School; 
  • $118,000 to the Regina Public School Division for roofing upgrades at Coldwell School;
  • $164,000 to the Regina Public School Division for roofing upgrades at Scott Collegiate;
  • $99,000 to the Regina Roman Catholic Separate School Division for roofing upgrades at Deshaye Catholic School; and
  • $96,000 to the Regina Roman Catholic Separate School Division for roofing upgrades at St. Angela Merici School.

The projects announced today are part of the Government of Saskatchewan's investment of $6.1 million to improve the learning environment in 34 Saskatchewan schools. These include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, renovations, additions, mechanical system upgrades and building system upgrades. Funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province. Over the past five years the Government has invested $169.2 million in capital improvements to preK-12 schools.

"These school improvement projects are part of the government's commitment to make Saskatchewan the best place for young people to live, work and build strong futures," McCall said.
