The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $552,000 to improve four schools in the Chinook School Division in the communities of Pontiex, Val Marie, Vanguard and Fox Valley.
"Support for these school improvement projects demonstrates our continued commitment to work with school divisions, such as the Chinook School Division, to provide healthy, comfortable and well equipped learning environments for Saskatchewan students," Learning Minister Deb Higgins said. "An investment in schools is an investment in students and in the future of Saskatchewan."
The capital improvement projects include:
- $274,000 for mechanical system upgrades to Pontiex School;
- $167,000 for roofing upgrades to Val Marie School;
- $57,000 for mechanical system upgrades to Vanguard School; and
- $54,000 for a practical arts addition to Fox Valley School.
The projects announced today are part of the Government of Saskatchewan's investment of $6.1 million to improve the learning environment in 34 Saskatchewan schools. These include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, renovations, additions, mechanical system upgrades and building system upgrades. Funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province. Over the past five years the Government has invested $169.2 million in capital improvements to preK-12 schools.
"These school improvement projects are part of the government's commitment to make Saskatchewan the best place for young people to live, work and build strong futures," Higgins said.
