The Government of Saskatchewan is investing $500,000 this year to improve Naicam School, which has received $1.8 million from the province over the last four years for upgrades.
"We are committed to providing students with comfortable, healthy and well equipped learning environments," Learning Minister Deb Higgins said. "We will continue to work with school divisions, such as the North East School Division, to invest in schools, students and in the future of Saskatchewan."
The North East School Division will use the funds to complete the second phase of renovations at Naicam School. The old gym, gym service area, and existing practical arts areas will be improved to provide adequate programming area for performing and practical arts. The first phase of renovations included the building of a new gym and gym service area.
This project announced today is part of the Government of Saskatchewan's investment of $6.1 million this year to improve the learning environment in 34 Saskatchewan schools. These include improvements such as roof replacement and restoration, renovations, additions, mechanical system upgrades and building system upgrades. Funding for these projects will be cost-shared with school divisions across the province. Over the past five years the Government has invested $169.2 million in capital improvements to preK-12 schools.
"These school improvement projects are part of the government's commitment to make Saskatchewan the best place for young people to live, work and build strong futures," Higgins said.
