NEW APPOINTMENT TO KEEWATIN YATTHÉ REGIONAL HEALTH AUTHORITY

Released on May 17, 2007

Health Minister Len Taylor today announced the appointment of a new member to the Keewatin Yatthé Regional Health Authority.

Joining the decision-making board is Irene Pedersen, a victim services co-ordinator in Buffalo Narrows.

“An important part of maintaining a strong health care system is the governance provided by regional health authority members who have a wide range of experience and skills,” Taylor said.  “Irene Pedersen brings experience in emergency services, community service and representing her community on decision-making bodies.”

“We are pleased with the appointment of Irene Pedersen to the Board and extend our warm welcome to her,” Keewatin Yatthé Regional Health Authority chair David Seright said.  “We believe that Irene has much to contribute and we look forward to working with her.”

The appointment is in effect until July 2008.  The province’s health authorities are responsible for the planning, organization, delivery and evaluation of health services within each of 12 health regions.
