Released on May 14, 2007

Saskatchewan people are invited to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal at several public events from June 1-4, 2007.

During her stay in the province she will visit Regina, Yorkton and Saltcoats.

“To have The Princess Royal come to our province once again is a great honour,” Provincial Secretary Glenn Hagel said.  “I know the people of Saskatchewan will give her a warm welcome.”

She will arrive on June 1 at Regina’s International Airport, prior to attending a private dinner with Officers of the Royal Regina Rifles, of whom she is Colonel-in-Chief.

On June 2, she will travel to Yorkton to visit with the Parkland Therapeutic Riding Association and attend a multicultural event celebrating 125 years of settlement.  The Princess Royal will then travel to Saltcoats and unveil a series of murals at the Saltcoats Community Hall.  Returning to Regina in the afternoon, she will witness the ‘Freedom of the City’ Parade at Regina City Hall and lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in Victoria Park.  In the evening, she will attend the Royal Regina Rifles 100th Anniversary Dinner.

On June 3, she will attend a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, followed by a visit to the Saskatchewan War Memorial.  There, she will unveil a plaque to honour individuals who lost their lives on operations with the Canadian Forces and a maquette styled after a WWI Nursing Sister.  She will then go to Government House for a First Nations event, after which she will tour the new RCMP Heritage Centre and lay a wreath at the Cenotaph, RCMP “Depot” Division.

In the evening on June 3 at the Hotel Saskatchewan Radisson Plaza, The Princess Royal will attend a provincial dinner and the inaugral presentation of the Saskatchewan Youth Award.

The Princess Royal will depart Regina on June 4.
