Citizens of Meadow Lake will have a safer community in which to live thanks to a new targeted crime initiative announced today.
The Meadow Lake Targeted Crime Initiative, or “Protect Our Property”, was developed in response to high rates of property related crime.
“Keeping communities safe is a top priority of this government,” Justice Minister Frank Quennell said. “This new initiative for Meadow Lake will help reduce property related crimes and make Meadow Lake a safer place to live, work and raise a family.”
“This initiative will positively impact the lives of Meadow Lake residents by helping to protect their homes from break-in, theft, vandalism and arson,” Corrections and Public Safety Minister Warren McCall said. “Corrections and Public Safety is proud to be a partner in this important strategy.”
This initiative will focus on offenders who commit property crimes in an effort to reduce the most prevalent and visible type of crime in the community, and by doing so, reduce the overall crime rate. The objectives of this initiative are to: reduce the number of property crimes; increase public awareness of issues surrounding property crime; provide control and opportunities for the reintegration of offenders; respond to each offender’s personal circumstances; decrease justice response time for target offences; and respond to offending with preventative measures.
