COMPANY FINED FOR WORKPLACE SAFETY VIOLATIONS

Great Plains Auctioneers of Emerald Park has been fined $900 in Provincial Court in Regina after pleading guilty of contravening sections 156(a), 160 and 167(2) of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 which relate to safety standards regarding forklift operation and maintenance.

The company was charged as a result of a non-compliance observed by an Occupational Health Officer during an inspection. This is the second time this year Great Plains Auctioneers has been convicted for violating occupational health and safety legislation.

The Occupational Health and Safety Division inspects approximately 4,000 workplaces annually and provides training to more than 4,000 employer and worker representatives each year on their safety responsibilities.
