ANTLERLESS MULE DEER LICENCES AVAILABLE

Released on July 30, 2007

Saskatchewan Environment has more than 4,800 licences available this year for antlerless mule deer. Antlerless deer are adult females or young animals born in spring 2007. The licences are left over from this year's Big Game Draw.

The licences are available to Saskatchewan hunters beginning August 1 until licences are sold out. Canadian residents can purchase licences beginning October 1 if they are still available. The licences cost $19.81, and a Wildlife Habitat Certificate that costs $10.90 must be presented when purchasing these licences.

Hunters who were not successful in the 2007 Big Game Draw can purchase up to two licences. Those who were successful in the 2007 Big Game Draw may purchase a second licence.

"This is a great opportunity for people interested in getting an antlerless mule deer," Wildlife Management Unit Manager Shawn Burke said. "By taking advantage of these licences, hunters can help us meet long-term sustainable population objectives for these herds."

Hunters who are interested in purchasing these extra licences can call Saskatchewan Environment at 306-787-2886 or pick one up from select Saskatchewan Environment field offices.

More information, including where you can hunt, where licences are available for purchase and the number of licences available in each hunting zone, can be found on Saskatchewan Environment's website at www.se.gov.sk.ca/fishwild.
